Thank you all so much for your overwhelming support in my campaign. With over 1.1 million votes – a third of the total votes – we were able to increase the Republican percentage by 8 points – over 300,000 more compared to the last general election – against the Madigan machine while being out spent more than 10 to 1. We could not have accomplished this without all of your support.

Although it was not the outcome we were seeking, our message of rooting out public corruption and bringing respect and jobs back to Illinois will continue to be a message that I plan to take beyond November 2nd. Again – thank you for your support and for carrying my message out. I look forward to seeing everyone in the near future.

Steve

Today the statewide ticket is doing a fly around throughout Illinois. We started with train stations in Chicago followed by breakfast at Mitchell’s. Also, I did a Fox Chicago interview.

We will be in Springfield, Champaign, Metro East, Cahokia and ending in DuPage for a huge final rally! Only 24 hours left!

On Thursday we attended a luncheon hosted by Adam Andrzejewski’s Good for Illinois organization in honor of former Poland President and Nobel Prize recipient Lech Walesa. What an amazing international figure. His speech was riveting. Bill Brady also gave a great speech. Governor Brady will be an international leader…bridging the international marketplace with Illinois companies.

We then headed to the Tea Party Express event. A large crowd was gathered outside to hear from speakers. My hands were freezing holding the microphone but the electric atmosphere was exciting.

I stopped by the Asian American Coalition meeting. I want to thank my good friend Prem Lalvani for his tireless efforts for the Asian American community. We are blessed by his leadership.

The final event was at the Oak Park/ River Forest rally. Tom Cronin leads a great group of Republicans. It was awesome to see so many Republicans in Oak Park. Thank you Carol Donovan, our State Central Committeeman for the area for inviting me. Congressman Roskam gave the keynote address…followed by myself and then by our great friend and mentor Dan Rutherford. Cook County Commissioner and Mayor of Elmwood Park Pete Silvestri also gave fine remarks. It was a good time at the beautiful Oak Park Country Club.

Pinoy, the major Filipino American newspaper has an ad on the statewide Republican ticket on Thursday.

We attended a very large rally in Will County for Bill Brady. There were three other Governors who spoke in support of Bill. Governors Bobby Jindahl of Louisana, Bob McDonnell of Virginia and Haley Barbour of Mississippi. What exceptional Governors….they have turned their States around fiscally and have become a beacon of leadership for all political leaders. It was an honor to be with them.

Afterwards, I had a wonderful opportunity to address the 15000 employees of State Farm based in Bloomington/Normal via their public announcement system. I want to thank Kevin Callis and his staff from State Farm for allowing me to present our campaign to the employees. I also spent some time speaking to a group of employees.
We then went back to downtown to attend Senator Rutherford’s fundraiser. Great turnout!! Dan can definitely draw a crowd. He is going to make a great Treasurer

We ended the evening at the Bloomingdale Township Republican Organization monthly event.

We then attended the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Take Back the Nation rally. What a great event. Former President Bush Press Secretary Ari Fleisher was the master of ceremonies and his wit and intelligence created so much excitement with the crowd and the candidates. Bill Brady, Mark Kirk, Dan Rutherford, Robert Enriquez, Bob Dold and a host of other candidates were in attendance. I brought up my upbringing in Skokie and some of my best friends being Jewish and also the importance of the Israel US relationship.

We ended the day at a candidates forum in Lombard.

On Sunday I did an interview with Mike Flannery of Channel 32 FOX Chicago. The main topic was Obamacare and my opposition of the legislation due to its unconstitutionality and its job killing aspects. When tort reform and open competition are not even addressed in the legislation, Obamacare is flawed and will continue to bring about higher unemployment.

We also stopped by St. Hyacinth Basilica and shook hands with parishioners. St. Hyacinth Basilica is primarily attended by Polish Americans..what a beautiful church. Thank you to 35th Ward Republican Committeeman Walter Karnecki and his deputy for introducing me to the congregation.

We then walked a precinct in Naperville with Committeeman and Naperville Township Trustee Fred Spitzerri. It was nice getting the boots on the ground and going door to door in a very diverse Republican neighborhood. Fred has great neighbors…thanks Fred!!

We then joined Senator Bill Brady at Sonny Acres Farm in West Chicago for a meet and greet. Kane County is excited for change and the Republican ticket…

We started early on Saturday at the ROLT election judges and precinct captains breakfast. A large crowd heard from numerous candidates including Dan Rutherford and myself. Commissioner Tony Peraica always does a great job in getting out the vote and energizing the crowd….and always with the support and assistance of his deputy, Gigi Callaway. Gigi is a rock star.

We then headed to a rally at the 10th ward in the city at Angel Garcia’s headquarters. Dan Rutherford, Isaac Hayes (running for Congress against Jesse Jackson Jr), Angel Garcia and myself had an opportunity to speak to volunteers.

I also did an interview on WBEZ…which will be aired on Thursday.

We also visited a victory center in Northbrook where Tony Esposito is doing a great job getting volunteers and making calls. The center was packed with volunteers as Illinois surpassed over 3 million calls made. Rodney Davis, Randy Pollard and all the victory center directors are working 24/7 to get out the vote.

I wanted to point out the desperation and incivility by some of the Democratic leadership in Illinois. On Saturday, state senator Ricky Hendon, who is running for Mayor, when introducing Pat Quinn at a rally attended by union members called Bill Brady ”idiotic, racist, sexist, etc…”. This is uncalled for and Mr. Hendon owes Bill Brady an apology. It is this type of behavior by politicians that is alienating the public. We desperately need new types of leaders in Illinois. Voters need to repudiate politicians that use name calling and personal insults as a political tactic.

Steve
